USM Haller Wood Doors & Panels: Real Wood Veneer on a Compatible Grid
Klackjoy makes USM Haller–compatible wood doors, drawer fronts and panels — real wood veneer on a plywood core, not a stick-on film. Structural fronts in Black Oak, 1:1 fit with genuine USM Haller, at 60–70% less.
Looking for a USM Haller wood door or wood panel? Klackjoy makes a real-wood-veneer door that fits the genuine USM Haller ball-and-tube grid 1:1 — a structural replacement front, not a stick-on film. This is the wood option USM's own catalogue reserves for table tops, brought to your shelving and sideboard fronts.
In short: Klackjoy builds USM Haller–compatible wood veneer doors and drawer fronts on a plywood core — a genuine structural front (left-open, right-open, and push-to-open double doors), currently offered in Black Oak with further finishes on request. They mount on the same 25 mm chrome ball (M8) grid as USM Haller, mix 1:1 into an existing unit, cost around 60–70% less, and carry a 10-year warranty. Design one in the live 3D configurator.
Why a wood front on a metal system
USM Haller is defined by its powder-coated steel and chrome — beautiful, but relentlessly hard-surfaced. A wood front changes the character of the whole piece: natural grain warms up an all-metal shelving wall, softens a sideboard in a living room, and lets the unit sit comfortably next to timber floors and furniture.
Here is the gap Klackjoy fills. USM's own oak, walnut, and beech veneers are offered on table tops only — the cabinet doors and drop-down fronts stay metal. If you want a wood door on the ball-and-tube system, the standard catalogue does not offer it. Klackjoy does, as a structural front you design panel by panel.
Our construction: plywood core + real wood veneer
A Klackjoy wood front is a real wood veneer bonded to a plywood core — a solid, structural door that hangs on the frame exactly like a metal one. It is not a vinyl wrap, not a magnetic skin, and not a solid-plank door that would warp; it is a genuine furniture-grade panel with a natural timber face.
That construction matters, because most "wood-look USM" you find online is something else entirely:
| Klackjoy wood front | Vinyl wrap film | USM official wood | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Real wood veneer on a plywood core | Printed vinyl skin stuck onto a metal door | Oak / walnut / beech veneer |
| Where it goes | Doors, drawer fronts, panels | Applied over existing metal fronts | Table tops only |
| Surface | Natural timber grain | Photo-printed imitation | Natural timber grain |
| Structural? | Yes — a replacement front | No — a cosmetic layer | Yes (but not a door) |
| Fits USM grid | 1:1, 25 mm ball / M8 | N/A — covers what you own | USM system |
The takeaway: Klackjoy is the only one of these that gives you a structural wood door for the USM Haller grid.
Door types and drawer fronts
You can specify wood fronts in every opening format the system uses:
- Left-hinged door and right-hinged door — a single wood front swinging from either side.
- Double door — two wood fronts meeting in the middle. The double door is push-to-open with no handle, so the wood face stays clean and unbroken.
- Wood drawer front — pair a timber face with the standard drawer body for a warm, flush front.
Every one of these is chosen per panel in the configurator, so you can mix wood doors with metal ones in a single unit — a run of oak fronts over a grey metal body, or one wood accent door in an otherwise powder-coated piece.
Finishes: Black Oak now, more on request
The current in-stock veneer is Black Oak — a deep, open-grain oak that reads as a genuine designer finish against chrome. Because these are made to order, further finishes are available on request; if you have a specific timber in mind to match existing furniture, ask when you configure. For the metal side of the palette, our fully custom guide covers the colour options.
Mixing wood fronts into your existing USM Haller
Everything Klackjoy builds is physically compatible with genuine USM Haller, 1:1. The wood doors mount on the same 25 mm chrome-plated brass ball with an M8 thread, and the frame uses the same standard tube lengths — 100, 150, 175, 250, 350, 395, 500, 595 and 750 mm — as the original system.
That means you do not have to buy a whole new unit to get wood. You can add wood Klackjoy fronts to a USM Haller piece you already own, or build a new compatible unit that stands beside it. For the full breakdown of how parts interchange, see our guides on compatible parts and overall compatibility — and if you are reworking an existing piece, reconfiguring USM Haller.
Sizing: the standard USM grid
Wood fronts are sized to the same module grid as the rest of the system, so they drop into standard bays. Because the frame is built from standard USM tube lengths (100–750 mm), a wood front can face a compact single compartment or a wide sideboard bay, and you place each one exactly where you want it in the 3D configurator. The configurator only lets you build valid, manufacturable geometry, so a wood-fronted layout stays structurally sound.
Glass, wood, metal — one system
Wood is one of several front materials you can specify. If you are weighing surfaces, our companion guide on glass doors covers the transparent option, and if you are matching a piece to a specific era of the system, USM Haller generations explains how the grid has stayed compatible over time.
How to order a wood front
You design a wood-fronted unit the same way you design any Klackjoy piece: open the live 3D configurator, build your frame from standard tubes, and assign a wood front to each door or drawer you want in timber. The price updates live as you build, and a finished wood-fronted unit typically costs around 60–70% less than the equivalent genuine USM configuration, with a 10-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does USM Haller make a wood door?
USM offers oak, walnut, and beech veneer on table tops only — its cabinet doors and fronts are metal. For a wood door on the ball-and-tube grid, Klackjoy makes a USM Haller–compatible wood veneer front that mounts on the same 25 mm chrome ball (M8) system, in left-hinged, right-hinged, and push-to-open double formats.
Is the Klackjoy wood panel solid wood or veneer?
It is a real wood veneer bonded to a plywood core — a genuine structural door, not a solid plank and not a printed film. The plywood core keeps it stable and flat, while the natural timber veneer gives the face a real wood grain.
How is this different from a vinyl wood wrap?
A vinyl wrap is a printed film stuck onto an existing metal door — a cosmetic skin. A Klackjoy wood front is a structural replacement front: real wood veneer on a plywood core that hangs on the frame like any other door. One covers what you own; the other is the door itself.
Will a wood front fit my existing USM Haller?
Yes — Klackjoy wood fronts are physically compatible with genuine USM Haller 1:1. They use the same 25 mm chrome-plated brass ball with M8 thread and the same standard tube lengths (100–750 mm), so you can add wood fronts to a unit you already own or build a compatible new one beside it.
What wood finishes are available?
The current in-stock veneer is Black Oak. Because units are made to order, further finishes are available on request — if you need a specific timber to match existing furniture, ask when you configure your piece.
